HEART WORKS JUST FINE AS NOSE BREATHES GOOD
In our country and in the world, many people complain about the ‘deviation’, which is known as the problem of not being able to breathe properly, as well as the negative and disturbing deformities of their nose.
Breathing through the nose in a healthy way is necessary for the heart to perform its functions better. Scientific studies on the effect of deviation on the heart show that there is a significant increase in the pumping power of the heart after surgery, while the functions of the heart also improve.
Aesthetic expectations and not being able to breathe properly make it necessary to perform rhinoplasty operations, which are known as nasal aesthetic attempts. However, these problems, known as not being able to breathe properly through the nose, have differences that vary from person to person. The growth of cartilage structures in the nose, curvature of the nasal bone, enlargement of the nasal concha, polyps formed in the nose, allergic rhinitis also prevent healthy breathing. These problems in the nose make it difficult for the person to breathe, as well as cause symptoms such as headache, nasal congestion, sleeping with the mouth open, and breathing interruption during sleep, making surgical intervention necessary.
Breathing relaxes by 80 percent
After nose surgery, an average of 80% improvement occurs in the person’s comfortable breathing. While the quality of daily life increases, those who are out of breath after climbing a small hill, climbing stairs, walking a little fast can breathe much more easily after nose surgery. The snoring problem is also reduced. Likewise, there is a significant reduction in sleep apnea complaints. The biggest benefit of these surgeries is that the heart functions are better in the long term. In nose surgeries, if the problems that make breathing difficult are to be corrected, the surgery takes about an hour under general anesthesia. In addition to this surgery, if aesthetic procedures are to be performed on the nose, this period may extend up to about four hours. One of the most difficult issues for patients after nose surgeries is tampons that are inserted into the nostrils for a while. However, since these bumpers are produced in a way that they can be put on and removed more easily, there are no serious difficulties as in the past.
Bruising and swelling heal faster
Compared to the past, infections experienced after surgery are further reduced with the new types of tampons used, and the risk of infection is less than in the past. Although very rarely, some patients may experience problems such as infection or blood accumulation in the sutures. In rhinoplasty (nose) surgeries, both the structural problems in the nose are eliminated, and a more aesthetically beautiful nose is created that is proportional to the person’s face. Recovery time can take up to two weeks. In the past years, bruising and swelling were observed on the nose and face for 3-4 weeks after the operation, but now the bruise and swelling disappear on the fourth day at the latest. In addition, with the techniques used in recent years, post-operative nose tip drops have also decreased.
Wearing glasses and going out in sun are prohibited after the surgery
While nose surgeries enable the person to snore, sleep apnea, and improve the functions of the heart by pumping blood better, it is necessary to know the do’s and don’ts before the surgery. The most important thing is to give the patient good information about what will be the most realistic appearance that can be made on his own face after the surgery. In this case, it may be unrealistic to want a nose that is too large to have an arched appearance, but a nose that is too small to fit your own face. For this reason, it is of great importance that the physician and the patient agree on this issue before the operation, that the patient does not experience shock when he sees his new nose after the operation, and that he does not deteriorate his health by resorting to the second and third surgeries when necessary. After this problem is overcome, it is time to take some medical measures. One week before the operation, blood thinners and painkillers should be stopped. It is necessary to avoid herbal medicines in order not to have any problems with bleeding during the surgery. After the operation is completed, ice therapy is recommended 3-4 times.
Avoid heavy sports after nose surgery
The patient is asked not to do heavy sports in the postoperative period and to avoid resistance exercises with weights. Likewise, the use of sunglasses and prescription glasses is among the ones that should definitely not be used as they will negatively affect the healing of the surgery area and create a weight. Glasses are banned during this 3-month period. There is no harm in using protective creams so that the skin is not damaged when going out in the sun. Although an incision is made at the tip of the nose, it is desirable to use some creams in order to prevent scarring in this area. By paying attention to the impact at all times, it is necessary to protect oneself very well in daily life, including minor traumas, and avoid crowds during the first six months. If nasal cleaning is to be done, it is important not to use tap water or even domestic drinking water, but instead to use special solutions for nasal cleaning. In addition to all these, it is recommended not to swim in the pool and sea for the first one or two months after the nose surgery.
